The amount of pain you may experience will depend on a number of variables. For me one level caused no pain at all. If you are within your desired weight the distance the needle has to travel to access your disc is quite short. The pain is generated when the injection occurs and lasts for only a few moments... if the disc is a pain generator... otherwise the only pain you feel is the injection itself and if your Doctor is skilled they will inject a pain killing agent as soon as they get the information they need. Keep in mind mine was for the neck not the back. This is NOT a pleasant procedure, but I would bet it is less painful than your radio frequency by a long shot. This should also have nothing to do with headache generation.

Thanks for the procedure information. The brochures are too vague and make it sound like a cakewalk but they aren't on the other end of the needles. Is this as painful as the radiofrequency or more? Even with the soma, darvocet and versed the needles in the neck for the radiofrequency had me in tears it hurt so bad. I am also concerned with the severity of 'pain' because other than the arm pain and tingling when it is really bad I also get some nasty headaches and if they get too bad I end up in the ER getting sedated. Am I looking at a repeat performance?
